This crater is about 26W, 46N, and it is of interest for a simple reason.
There have been many recent and historical reports of odd phenomena in the general vicinity of the crater. Blue glow, darkening and red, unusually bright appearance as examples.
We know there are radon gas emissions in the area of the crater. We know it is twice as bright as other features on the side of the moon facing Earth. It has unusual ultraviolet spectrum, and an area immediately to the north has sulfer deposits. It’s highly reflective and so white because it’s an unusually young crater, not yet weathered to the grey by the solar wind. The area is high in titanium, and in the reduced state of everything on the Moon, that means titanium oxide – what we put in paint to get white paint.
And the crater is home to 122 of the anomalies noted by observers of the Moon, about a third of the total in the historical record for this astonautical body.
